PC World - Hacker Uses Sony PlayStation 3 to Crack Passwords

Very interesting article about using the ps3 for cryptography purposes. Main point: in an intel architechture, the upper limit for a brute force crack is 10 to 15 million cycles per second. But on the ps3's cell architecture, researchers were able to push the brute force cracking performance to 1.4 billion cycles per second.

Wow.
